Humanitarian Aid – Doing it Right Does Matter

Providing humanitarian aid with a true impact, and doing it right, takes resource and commitment. Doing it right definitely matters to National Relief Charities’ Program Partners and the people we serve. The material goods we provide to our Program Partners help meet basic needs but can also be put to good use to motivate impact and change. We hear daily about how NRC partners have used material goods to motivate target outcomes and behaviors such as health screenings, skill development, community involvement, or to simply put a smile on an isolated Elder’s face. This letter came from a Program Partner on the Colorado River Indian Reservation in Parker, AZ:

Providing the very basics for these women is essential to their growth in so many areas and not comprehensible to anyone that hasn’t experienced the situations these women have faced in their lives. Being able to wash your hair so you can go out and be presentable to obtain employment is huge for these women. For some of our battered women, at times they haven’t been allowed the simple pleasures of these items or even food at times in the hands of their abusers. On behalf of the Colorado River Regional Crisis Shelter, and the women and children we serve, I would like to extend our gratitude and say Thank you to National Relief Charities for all that you do for the Colorado River Regional Crisis Shelter to help the women and children feel like they are flying with wings into their dreams.

This kind of feedback lets us know without a doubt that our mission, the goods and services we provide, and the way and the reason we provide them all matter and that National Relief Charities makes a difference for the people we serve.
